Great Find

This my friends is not a tasting note, but rather a lead on some great wines in the city that I recently found while out with a group of friends. If you have not yet been, I highly reccommend that you visit the Silver Spoon on Roncesvalles, in the High Park neighborhood. This local spot has such labels as Shug Pinot Noir at a very reasonable $65, there is also L'ecole 41 at a modest $115.
It is nice to see a small restaurant supporting our local wine agents and providing us (you) these wines at such a great price. Wine Buyer Kyle Taylor has avoided the easy way of supporting our domineering Monopolistic system, and has opted for a thoughtful, well researched list.
I suggest you all give it a try, and post your feedback.

2007 Charles Baker Riesling

I was lucky enough to secure a few bottles of this beautiful Niagara Riesling from Charles Baker. As many of you are aware the 2007 Vintage in Niagara is considered to be the best to date, bar none. This Riesling is a prime example of the exemplariness of the vintage. Using the vineyards of Mark Picone this Rielsing exihibts fresh acidity, a touch of very ripe pear and apple characteristics on the palate. Is in broader than past vintages, in part due to the warmer season of 2007, however it still delivers its long finish with notes of lemon pear.
A great wine to serve with a Lemon Scented Lobster risotto, or if you are a little daring, try it with a wakame crusted duck breast served with poached pear slivers. It will astonish
